Relics are powerful artifacts that provide significant bonuses to your heroes and armies. Understanding how to acquire, upgrade, and strategically equip them is crucial for late-game success.
How to Acquire Relics & Shards
The primary way to get and upgrade relics is by collecting their shards. Here are the main sources:
- Tavern Recruiting: The Tavern has a dedicated "Relic" tab where you can use Relic Scrolls to recruit for shards. This is the most consistent method.
- Relic Events: Save your Relic Scrolls for these events! Using scrolls during a relic event maximizes your rewards and gives you a better chance at rarer shards.
- Guild Store: You can purchase Relic Scrolls from the Guild Store using guild points. This should be a regular purchase.
- VIP Store: Relic Scrolls are also available in the VIP store for diamonds.
- Legion Bosses: Defeating guild Legion Bosses often rewards relic shards.
General Relic Strategy
- Focus Your Upgrades: Don't spread your relic shards thin. It's better to have a few highly upgraded, powerful relics than many weak ones. Focus on the relics that best suit your main hero queue.
- F2P Best Bets: For Free-to-Play players, some of the most accessible and effective early relics are the Duke's Ring, Philosopher's Stone, and the Horn of Rally.
- Check Relic Attributes: Initially, focus on upgrading Blue and Purple relics as their shards are more common. A fully-starred Purple relic can often be stronger than a no-star Gold relic.

Upgrading relics requires a specific number of shards for each star level and are community-gathered so its hard to determine the exact amount of shards required.
Notable Relic Breakdown & Faction Guide
Horde Faction
- Frost Diadem: Excellent for consistent damage. It hits all enemies, provides a stun, and buffs your team's damage. A top-tier choice for controlling the battlefield.
- Sacred Scroll: A great defensive and utility relic. Its shield break ability is particularly useful against Horde's natural enemy, the League faction.
- Scale of Injustice: Particularly strong for Horde as it buffs the attack of key heroes like Wukong, increasing both his direct damage and his true damage, which is highly effective against shielded League teams.
League Faction
- Petrification Staff: A powerful control relic that can lock down key enemy heroes, giving your high-damage dealers like Artificer time to use their skills.
- Scale of Injustice: Increases the buffs from core heroes like Rose Princess and Paragon. At higher star levels, it applies a healing reduction debuff, which is crucial for countering Nature teams.
- Moonstone: A strong healing relic that also provides a knockback effect, which can interrupt enemy skills like Sage's ultimate.
Nature Faction
- Frost Diadem: Just like with Horde, this is a top-tier damage and control option. The stun can interrupt enemy combos and provide a significant advantage.
- Sacred Scroll & Moonstone: Both are excellent for sustain. Nature teams rely on outlasting their opponents, and these relics help them withstand the initial burst damage from Horde lineups.
- Persecution: A good alternative to Frost Diadem at lower levels. While its targeting can be less reliable, the raw damage output is still very effective.
